North Carolina educators filled the streets of Raleigh and marched to the General Assembly to fight for better teacher pay, funding for student resources, increased pay for advanced degrees and more! Representative Deb Butler was there to greet them, join in on the fight, and listen to our NC teachers so that she may continue to be a voice for them in the Legislature.
72nd annual Azalea Festival Parade took place in Wilmington, NC on April 6th. Representative Butler was honored to be part of the parade and enjoyed meeting so many of her constituents at this wonderful festival right in her district! Special thank you to the staff, volunteers and everyone involved in making this festival a success!
Representative Deb Butler and Senator Harper Peterson held a joint Legislative Luncheon in Wilmington to bring updates from the House and Senate and kick off the road to 2020! Special guest speaker, Secretary of State Elaine Marshall was greeted by a packed house and spoke enthusiastically about the importance of taking the majority in the NC Legislature in 2020. Representative Deb Butler and Senator Harper Peterson discussed bringing back the film industry to NC, banning offshore drilling, and medicaid expansion. Thank you to all of the supporters who attended. Representative Deb Butler looks forward to continuing to work to bring progressive change to the great state of NC and is honored to represent you!
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC invested $1 million in the North Carolina Community College System and presented Brunswick Community College with a $200,000 check. This investment will work to combat the opioid epidemic by supporting advanced coursework for EMS faculty with emphasis on understanding of the opioid issue, funding new training equipment and technology, and providing student scholarships. Representative Butler was proud to stand in support of this work and with the good people of BCBS and Brunswick Community College.
